Every year in autumn, Beethoven's native city of Bonn celebrates the Beethoven Festival with top international orchestras.
Well-known soloists and promising young performers in honour of the legendary composer. The festival is held at different venues, each of them carefully selected for the prevailing programme. Visitors can choose between traditional concert halls such as the 'Beethovenhalle' and the chamber music hall of the 'Beethoven House' in Bonn, churches and museums, and also more unusual locations like industrial heritage sites and modern corporate buildings.
The former capital of Germany is a cultural city with a history dating back more than 2,000 years. Set on the banks of the Rhine, it enjoys countless historic sights such as the strawberry coloured baroque Town Hall and the Electoral Residence with its vast Palace Garden. North of the Old Town's main square, visitors will find Bonn's most famous building, the Beethoven House, where the composer's life and work are beautifully displayed. South of the Old Town, the world-class museums of Bonn's famous Museum Mile are situated in the old government district.
