If you'd like to experience an authentic German beer festival, then there are a number which are still available, including the 200th Anniversary of the world's largest and most famous beer festival, known as 'Oktoberfest', held in Munich, plus others in Bremen and Stuttgart.
This year, Munich's Oktoberfest runs from 18 September - 3 October, and specialist tour operator, Dertour, has a number of great value flight and accommodation packages to the event, with prices starting from £419 per person. Other beer festivals the tour operator has available are in Bremen (15 - 31 October) and Stuttgart (24 September - 10 October) and with prices from just £349 per person.
Munich Oktoberfest £419pp - The festival first took place in 1810 on the occasion of the wedding of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese. And the next year, the royal court decided to repeat the festival to the great delight of Munich's residents, and every year since it has grown to become the event that it is today. The price includes two nights bed and breakfast accommodation in the three star hotel Amba and return flights from Heathrow, plus access to English speaking Dertour representative based in Munich. The hotel is family-run and located in the centre of the city and within walking distance of its main sights. Price based on two adults sharing.
Stuttgart Beer Festival £349pp - Stuttgart's beer festival originates from a harvest festival following a famine in 1818. It provides two weeks of fun with attractions like oompaa bands and fairground rides and attracts more than 5 million visitors every year. The price includes two nights bed and breakfast accommodation at the four star Maritim Stuttgart Hotel, located in the middle of the city, plus return flights from Heathrow. Based on two adults sharing.
Bremen Beer Festival £399pp - The Bremen beer festival is the oldest fair in Germany and the biggest festival in the north of the country. The 'Freimarkt' is famous for its late night partying and for its state of the art fairground rides. The price includes two nights bed and breakfast accommodation at the three star Mercure Hotel Columbus, which is located centrally, plus return Heathrow - Hamburg flights. Based on two adults sharing.
Dertour is also able to pre-book seats in the beer tents for groups of ten people or more. For £40, you get two 'steins' of beer and a voucher for a Bavarian meal as well as guaranteed entry into the tent.
