ATOL is a financial protection scheme for holidaymakers travelling on an air inclusive holiday, which is managed by the Civil Aviation Authority. This protects you from losing your money or from being stranded overseas in the very unlikely event that DERTOUR should go out of business. Our Air Travel Organiser's Licence (ATOL) number is ATOL 1839.

When you buy an ATOL protected air inclusive holiday* from us, you will receive a confirmation invoice from us (or via our authorised agent through which you booked) confirming your arrangements and your protection under our ATOL.

* The air inclusive holidays we arrange are ATOL protected providing either the person who pays for the booking is present in the UK when the booking is made or the first leg of any flight or flights we arrange for you commences in the UK. Cultural Heart of Germany Rail Tour

Day 1 - London to Eisenach

On your first day, you arrive at the historical city of Eisenach. If you have time, visit the Wartburg Castle that towers in all its splendour high above the town. No other castle is more closely associated with German history than the Wartburg. It is the place where Saint Elisabeth lived and worked and Martin Luther translated the New Testament into German.

Day 2 - Eisenach to Leipzig

From Eisenach your journey continues on to Leipzig, the city of Goethe's 'Faust' and Bach's 'St Matthew Passion'.

Day 3 - Leipzig

Discover the city and its surroundings. Go on a stroll through the charming city centre with its enchanting historic buildings. Visit the beautiful Old Town with its Renaissance and Baroque churches, the many street markets and the university, one of the oldest in Europe.

Day 4 - Leipzig to Dresden

After a short train journey you will arrive in Dresden, where you will spend two nights. Dresden is a city overflowing with culture. Steeped in tradition and historic character, the city boasts a great variety of attractions and magnificent architecture that shapes the famous skyline. The city has now been meticulously restored to its former glory and shines in all its Saxon splendour and Baroque beauty. See the sandstone dome of Dresden's most iconic landmark, the Frauenkirche. For the best views, venture over the river into the New Town (Neustadt), where you'll be greeted by the glorious 'Golden Cavalier' statue. You should try some local Saxon specialities in one of the many gourmet taverns or brewery houses in the Old Town.

Day 5 - Dresden

Enjoy another day in Dresden.

Day 6 - Dresden to Weimar

From Dresden, you will travel to your next stop Weimar. The famous German poet Goethe once said about Weimar; 'Where else do you find so many good things in such a small place'? Learn more about this fascinating town that has played an important role as an intellectual centre in the late 18th and early 19th century. Don't miss out on the UNESCO World Heritage listed buildings from the 'Classical Weimar' period.

Day 7 - Weimar to Cologne

Cologne, one of Germany's oldest cities, famous for its historic gems and vivacious carnival celebrations. The twin spires of the Gothic cathedral tower over the heart of Cologne's charming Old Town and its countless cultural and historic treasures. From bustling bars and restaurants to peaceful gardens and museums, Cologne is a colourful city with a lively atmosphere.

Day 8 - Cologne to London

Return journey from Cologne to London.
