ATOL is a financial protection scheme for holidaymakers travelling on an air inclusive holiday, which is managed by the Civil Aviation Authority. This protects you from losing your money or from being stranded overseas in the very unlikely event that DERTOUR should go out of business. Our Air Travel Organiser's Licence (ATOL) number is ATOL 1839.

When you buy an ATOL protected air inclusive holiday* from us, you will receive a confirmation invoice from us (or via our authorised agent through which you booked) confirming your arrangements and your protection under our ATOL.

* The air inclusive holidays we arrange are ATOL protected providing either the person who pays for the booking is present in the UK when the booking is made or the first leg of any flight or flights we arrange for you commences in the UK. Berlin is not only the capital of Germany, but with over 60 markets it is also the capital of German Christmas markets. It is the perfect city break destination at any time of the year, but during Christmas season, a visit to Berlin is a truly magical experience.

One of the popular Berlin Christmas markets is situated next to the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church amidst the hustle and bustle of high street shoppers. Mulled wine and punch, grilled sausages and baked apples are available from the numerous lovingly decorated stalls. The shopping boulevard Kurfürstendamm and KaDeWe, the biggest department store of continental Europe, are just around the corner. A traditional and particularly lovely Christmas market is the Weihnachtszauber at Gendarmenmarkt, one of Europe's most beautiful squares.

Tempted by the aromas of mulled wine and baked cinnamon stars, festive visitors are drawn to more than 100 handicraft and food stalls at this brightly illuminated market. At the Berlin Christmas markets, one is sure to find the perfect Christmas present among the handmade yuletide decorations and toys on offer. Don't miss the romantic Christmas market in front of Charlottenburg Castle which is dedicated to the Biedermeier period. Go on a nostalgic horse-drawn carriage ride and step back in time with themed exhibits inside the palace.

At Alexanderplatz Market, situated at Berlin's most famous square, children will love the enchanting Fairy Forest and ice skating rink. It is also the location of the capital's highest tower. From the 360 degree viewing platform you can enjoy stunning views over Berlin's prominent sights. A multicultural Christmas experience awaits you on either side of Brandenburg Gate. Located in the neighbourhood of the UK, French and US embassies, this Christmas market presents the distinctive festive traditions of various countries.

Kurfürstendamm and Tauentzienstraß

The upper part of Kurfürstendamm and the adjacent Tauentzienstraße are especially popular with younger people for their high street names. The area around Adenauerplatz is the most exclusive part of Kurfürstendamm boulevard with many designer stores.

Friedrichstraße

Friedrichstraße boulevard exudes a flair of the twenties. With its newly decorated buildings, exclusive offices and coffee shops, visitors will discover a slice of New York in the heart of Berlin.

Wilmersdorfer Straße

This traditional shopping boulevard offers of a huge number of shops and department stores very close to each other.

Hackescher Markt/Spandauer Vorstadt

The Hackescher Markt and its courtyards are a must-see for Berlin visitors. Here, you will find a huge variety of unique art and fashion stores as well as many restaurants and bars.

Nikolaiviertel

A visit to the Nikolaiviertel, a district reconstructed in the style of the Middle Ages, is a very special experience. Besides many museums and the beautiful Nikolai Church, the area offers numerous small souvenir and antique shops.

KaDeWe (Kaufhaus des Westens)

This huge luxury department store was established nearly a century ago. A special highlight is the food section located on the sixth floor where you can find a variety of more than 1,000 German sausages together with a vast choice of delicacies from all over the world.

Galeries Lafayette

Here, you will find Paris in Berlin. This modern department store was designed by Jean Nouvel and boasts a spectacular interior. The French food department is an absolute must!

Restaurant Borchardt

Popular with actors and politicians, this true Berlin institution is particularly famous for its delicious Wiener Schnitzel.

Café Wintergarten im Literaturhaus

This lovely Art Nouveau building with its idyllic garden is extremely popular for a light lunch or afternoon tea.

Berlin TV Tower

Take in unbeatable 360-degree views of Berlin from the Fernsehturm viewing platform, Germany's tallest structure.
