Beer Festivals
Germany's famous beer festivals are amazing celebrations,
typically held in huge marquees with light-hearted entertainment
like Bavarian oompah bands and lederhosen-clad folk dancers.
The biggest beer festival in the world is the legendary Oktoberfest, held in Munich
from late September to early October. It attracts a staggering six
million visitors, and 2010 is Oktoberfest's 200th birthday.
Beer festivals pop up in towns and cities all over Germany,
including Stuttgart, Berlin, Hanover,
Bavaria, Bremen and
Hamburg. Another favourite beer
festival of ours is held in Prague each May, which is also one
of the greatest gastronomic events in the country.
