We've been creating perfect tailor-made holidays to the heart of Europe for 50 years. This includes ensuring your satisfaction and security. It's why DERTOUR is fully licenced with our own ATOL and is also adheres to all the rules and principles of ABTA.

ATOL is a financial protection scheme for holidaymakers travelling on an air inclusive holiday, which is managed by the Civil Aviation Authority. Our Air Travel Organiser's Licence (ATOL) number is ATOL 1839.

When you buy an ATOL protected air inclusive holiday* from us, you will receive a confirmation invoice from us (or via our authorised agent through which you booked) confirming your arrangements and your protection under our ATOL.

* The air inclusive holidays we arrange are ATOL protected providing either the person who pays for the booking is present in the UK when the booking is made or the first leg of any flight or flights we arrange for you commences in the UK. For further information, visit the ATOL website at www.atol.org.uk

ABTA was created in 1950 by 22 leading travel companies. It now represents over 5,000 travel agencies and more than 900 tour operators, right across the British Isles. ABTA helps to maintain the highest standards of trading practice for the travel industry and its customers. The ABTA logo is a sign that you can expect choice, value and high levels of service from DERTOUR.

DERTOUR is also fully committed to always try to provide an alternative holiday or route in times of disruption that is out of our control, such as in the event of volcanic ash, disruption to air travel due to heavy snowfall or an airline strike grounding aircraft.

If you have any questions about our ABTA membership or the financial protection provided under our ATOL, please don't hesitate to call us on 020 7290 1104.

Weimar is know for it's writers and it has been a site of pilgrimage for the German intelligentsia visiting the tombs of Goethe and Schiller. But Weimar has far more to offer: it is the city of palaces, parks and gardens. The many beautiful locations in and around Weimar have always been devoted to relaxation and pleasure.

The majority of shopping done in Weimar is focussed on the pedestrian streets of Schillerstrasse and Wielandstrasse where shops offer a variety of goods. There are numerous clothing boutiques which house products from both local and regional desginers, encouraging a style unique to Weimar. There are also quaint shops which sell the perfect souvenirs, from hand crafted jewellery to pottery.

The extensive number of books shops which line the streets cannot be ignored. They offer a variety of classical German and Weimar literature. Antique shops are also extremely popular as are china shops.

Weimar's traditional cuisine, consisting of mainly stews with dumplings, is prevalent in many of the restaurants in the area. Elephantenkeller is particularly renowned for its traditional food, also specialising in pickled trout and serves black beer which must be tried if visitors want to fully immerse themselves in the culture. Zum Zwiebel is also loyal to the old culture and the cherry wine here is a delicious delicacy.

Residenz is a more casual restaurant serving mainly café food with particularly excellent cakes. It is very popular with locals and tourists alike and therefore boasts an inviting and vibrant atmosphere.

Weimar's interesting history is present throughout the town and can most obviously be seen through the sites and monuments that are now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Sites. They consist of the houses of Goethe and Schiller as well as the Duchess Anna Amalia Library and various castles which add to the aesthetic beauty of the town as well as demonstrating its longstanding history.

The Liszt Museum displays musical scores to the public, while the School of Music organizes internationally acclaimed concerts and competitions, demonstrating that music is vital to the rich culture of Weimar.

The Park on the Ilm is a beautiful park created in the 18th century, home to Goethe's Garden House and the Roman House which was the residence of the Grand Duke during summer months. The park itself follows the River Ilm and is a stunning rural setting.
