ATOL is a financial protection scheme for holidaymakers travelling on an air inclusive holiday, which is managed by the Civil Aviation Authority. This protects you from losing your money or from being stranded overseas in the very unlikely event that DERTOUR should go out of business. Our Air Travel Organiser's Licence (ATOL) number is ATOL 1839.

When you buy an ATOL protected air inclusive holiday* from us, you will receive a confirmation invoice from us (or via our authorised agent through which you booked) confirming your arrangements and your protection under our ATOL.

* The air inclusive holidays we arrange are ATOL protected providing either the person who pays for the booking is present in the UK when the booking is made or the first leg of any flight or flights we arrange for you commences in the UK. ABTA was created in 1950 by 22 leading travel companies. It now represents over 5,000 travel agencies and more than 900 tour operators, right across the British Isles. Essen is located in the heart of the Ruhr region in Germany. It houses many museums and theatres as well as the industrial monuments of the past.

Essen is also a proud member of the UNESCO World Heritages Site. The World Heritage Committee praised the Zollverein Coalmine as a representative example of the 'development of traditional heavy industries in Europe'.

Essen has more than 700 retail shops and boutiques which makes it realy interesting for many visitors. Essen is also regarded as the "city of shopping".

Most of the city centre is a pedestrian zone today.

The city center houses plenty of restaurants, brewerie houses, bars, pubs and cafés. In the summertime, the beer gardens on Lake Baldeney and along the Ruhr are favourite locations for visitors and crowded in the summertime.

Each year, Essen...for gourmetsis is located in the city of Essen. This gastronomical highlight is a high performance show  and demonstrates what the Essen restaurants have to offer.

Essen Cathedral

The Essen Cathedral is located in the heart of the city, it is a lovely example of classical Gothic architecture.

Gruga

The Gruga is a centrally located botanical garden and a popular place during the summertime.

Zeche Zollverein

This museum is located in Europe's largest coalmine. The modern German designs of everyday items are really interesting for lots of visitors.
