Bregenz, on the Austrian side of Lake Constance, is situated at the foot of the Pfänder Mountain. The upper town district is the oldest part of Bregenz, with buildings dating back to the 13th century. The Martin's Tower is the landmark of Bregenz, a building with a late Roman core and mainly Baroque style architecture. The biggest cultural event is the Bregenz Festival in summer, with operas and plays held on a floating stage built on Lake Constance.
