HIDDEN GEMS
Germany’s better known highlights are its fantastic picturesque
towns and villages alongside crystal-clear lakes and impressive
mountains, vibrant historical towns and its many events and
festivals. However, Germany has a great number of little known
places that are waiting to be explored.
The country is known for the many fine castles that dot the countryside.
Relics of a turbulent past become a modern day marvel for the
inquisitive visitor. Beautiful white sandy beaches stretch along
the German coastline dotted with the characteristic ‘Strandkorb’,
a wicker beach chair with a roof.
Germany’s
beaches are a wonderful
place to relax and partake in numerous water activities. Germany’s
Romantic Road retains much
of its medieval character and offers delightful towns and cities
such as Würzburg, Augsburg and Füssen. Germany’s beauty is reflected
in the many
UNESCO World Heritage Sites
and in the delights of the villages and mountains of the
Allgäu
region. Germany has an impressive reputation for fine food and
drink. These qualities are highlighted in the
Franconian
Wine Country region where many towns hold wine festivals featuring
local vineyards selling their wares at special prices.
