Why you're safe with the holiday experts

DERTOUR is part of the DERTOUR GmbH group of Frankfurt - one of the world's leading tour operators . We also hold our own ATOL and are members of ABTA.

We've been creating perfect tailor-made holidays to the heart of Europe for 50 years. A lot has changed in that time, but one thing that has always remained the same is our total focus on serving you in the very best way that we can. This includes ensuring your satisfaction and security. It's why DERTOUR is fully licenced with our own ATOL and is also adheres to all the rules and principles of ABTA.

ATOL is a financial protection scheme for holidaymakers travelling on an air inclusive holiday, which is managed by the Civil Aviation Authority. This protects you from losing your money or from being stranded overseas in the very unlikely event that DERTOUR should go out of business. Our Air Travel Organiser's Licence (ATOL) number is ATOL 1839.

When you buy an ATOL protected air inclusive holiday* from us, you will receive a confirmation invoice from us (or via our authorised agent through which you booked) confirming your arrangements and your protection under our ATOL.

* The air inclusive holidays we arrange are ATOL protected providing either the person who pays for the booking is present in the UK when the booking is made or the first leg of any flight or flights we arrange for you commences in the UK. For further information, visit the ATOL website at www.atol.org.uk

ABTA was created in 1950 by 22 leading travel companies. It now represents over 5,000 travel agencies and more than 900 tour operators, right across the British Isles. ABTA helps to maintain the highest standards of trading practice for the travel industry and its customers. The ABTA logo is a sign that you can expect choice, value and high levels of service from DERTOUR.

DERTOUR is also fully committed to always try to provide an alternative holiday or route in times of disruption that is out of our control, such as in the event of volcanic ash, disruption to air travel due to heavy snowfall or an airline strike grounding aircraft.

If you have any questions about our ABTA membership or the financial protection provided under our ATOL, please don't hesitate to call us on 020 7290 1104.

Linz - the perfect setting for an Austrian Christmas Market Old Urfahr West stretches out along the banks of the Danube.

Linz City Breaks

As the third-largest city in Austria, the city has plenty of variety on display. Linz city breaks are perfect for those looking to unwind and take in what this beautiful city has to offer. Linz is a city whose juxtaposition of modern architecture and light displays with historical buildings make it a truly inspiring destination for a city break.

Not to be missed is the Ars Electonica Centre situated on the north bank of the Danube; it hosts a museum as well as a festival. The Lentos is a modern art gallery which astounds at night when lights illumine the building in an array of colours catching the eye of every passer-by. The Linz Christmas Market is a popular attraction during the winter months, with the fairy-tale market at Volksgarten Park enchanting people of all ages with the many marquees selling traditional culinary delights.

Linz City Break

Other attractions include the Brucknerhaus, Linz's most important concert hall, and the Posthof concert hall. A Linz city break is perfect for those interested in the old town, a visit to the Castle of Linz, or St Mary's Cathedral (a Gothic-Revival style church) will give you a taste of the traditional values that are still seen throughout the city today.

Linz Cathedral was constructed by the Jesuits and was dedicated to St. Ignatius, founder of the Jesuit order. The river Danube itself, with its banks and the numerous green spaces, make Linz an extremely relaxing city for its inhabitants and for those visiting. This pleasurable rhythm and style of life are enough to entice any tourist.

Arkade

The glass-roofed Arkade mall is the perfect place to take sanctuary when it rains. Alongside high-street names like Boss and Agatha, there are also speciality shops, boutiques and a juice bar.

Glas Galerie

If designer glasswork is to your taste then check out the varied works in the Glas Galerie.

Imkerhof

For all things honey! Shelves upon shelves with a wide variety which can be eaten, drunk or bathed in!

Klosterhof

Klosterhof's tree-shaded beer garden is arguably the best in Linz, with space for 1500. If this isn't enough to tempt you, tasty Knödel (dumplings) with Stiegl beer in the vaulted tavern at the front should do the trick.

K.U.K. Hofbäckerei

Come to the city's oldest café (first mentioned in 1371) for the best Linzer Torte in the city! The sweet aromas of sugar and butter float around the wood-panelled café, decorated with Sissi portraits and Habsburg decorations.

Mia Cara

Visit this buzzing Italian osteria. Sample antipasti from the counter or homemade penne with a nice glass of Chianti. The patio is popular in summer.

Alter Dom

Admire the 17th-century Alter Dom, where Anton Bruckner served as church organist. Step inside to admire the breath-taking interior, with its theatrical pink marble altar and lavish white stuccowork.

Botanischer Garten

Relax beside the rhododendrons and orchids in Linz's Botanischer Garten. This peaceful oasis nurtures 10,000 species, from native alpine plants to tropical palms and one of the largest cacti collections in Europe.

Neue Dom

The Neue Dom, a neo-Gothic giant with towering spires and stained glass windows which depict Linz's history. The cathedral's height was apparently restricted to 134m, so as not to out-do Stephansdom in Vienna.
