The stunning Lucerne Christmas market has enchanted visitors for generations. The destination is popular with couples looking for a romantic winter getaway, with its stunning seaside location and the winter scenery of the Alps, the beautiful city of Lucerne provides a very special atmosphere during the festive season and is an ideal starting point for many excursions in central Switzerland. The main Christmas Market at Franziskaner Platz is only a short walk away from the River Reuss, the Old Town and the main station. There, you will find everything from Christmas decorations to regional delicacies.

Lucerne Christmas Market

The town is not very large and with a population of around 60,000 people the community is close and very friendly. The Lucerne Christmas market brings many visitors to the town, filling it with excitement and festivities at Christmas. The markets in Lucerne are much smaller than the Zurich Christmas markets but provide a uniquely traditional atmosphere.

From Thursday to Sunday, 20 stalls from 20 different countries present their own Christmas traditions at Kapellplatz with Lucerne's famous landmark, the Chapel Bridge, as a scenic background.
